Glenda June Allen, daughter of the late Samuel Rodgers and Irene Stephens Rodgers, was born on Nov. 29, 1940, at Bernie and died at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Oct. 17, 2007, at the age of 66. Mrs. Allen had worked at Brown Shoe Company of Bernie for 33 years. She was of Baptist Faith. She was united in marriage to Wilburn Leon Allen on July 22, 1961, at Bernie, and Mr. Allen survives at their home in Bernie. Other survivors include one son, Keith Leon Allen of Bernie; one daughter, Rhonda June Carter of Dexter; one brother, Bobby Rodgers of Bernie; one sister, Wilma Tripplett of Ellsinore; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death other than by her parents by two brothers, Orville Junior Rodgers and Carlton Buck Rodgers; three sisters, Avenille Lucus, Mary Atchley and Shirley Richards. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dean Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
