George Reed, 67, of 73 Colony Rd. SE, Mechanicstown, died Sunday in Ohio Valley Hospital at Steubenville after suffering a heart attack. He was employed by Diebold Inc. at Canton for 30 years before his retirement in 1972. Mr. Reed was born September 4, 1909 in Moultrie a son of the late Frank and Ida (Stump) Reed.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sadie Scarlott, whom he married August 2, 1930; a son, James H. Reed of Fisherman Rd., Carrollton; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Joretta) Ulman and Mrs. Van (Judy) Gardner, both of Rt. 3, Salineville, one brother, Larry Reed of Marlboro; six sisters, Mrs. Lillian McBride of Beloit, Mrs. Lee (Edith) Zedaker of New Bedford, Pennsylvania, Miss Eliza Reed of Cleveland, Mrs. Vance (Ruth) Vasbinder of Columbus, Mrs. Paul (Thelma) Van Pelt of Homeworth and Mrs. Fred (Pearl) Andrie of Atwater, and seven grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday in the Sweeney Funeral Home at Carrollton with Rev. Mike Hazelton officiating. Burial was in Harlem Springs Cemetery.
