Jerry Dean Driscoll, of Dixon, was born on February 17, 1940, at Oxford, Wisconsin, son of Gilbert T. and Margaret Agnes (Pike) Driscoll and departed this life at 11:07 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Phelps Health, Rolla. Jerry had attained the age of 81 years and 14 days.

            Jerry was united in marriage to Miss Janet Marie Renner on November 4, 1961 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin and to this union, two children were born. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Driscoll on July 3, 2002; his father, Gilbert in 1958; his mother, Margaret in 2006; one brother, Thomas Driscoll in 2018 and two sisters, Margaret Jean Mann in 1993 and Gilda Kay in 1950.

            Jerry entered active federal service in the United States Army June 6, 1960 at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois as a Private and served his country until he was honorably discharged at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri on December 1, 1980 attaining the rank of Major.  Maj Driscoll was aviator and logged thousands of flight hours including multiple combat tours in Vietnam.  Maj Driscoll was a Master Aviator and received numerous awards and decorations during his 20 years of service.  

            Following his retirement from the United States Army, Jerry worked in civil service as Director of DPW at Ft. Leonard Wood for 20 years and obtained the grade of GS-14.

            Jerry was baptized and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, St. Robert. He was a member of the Dixon Lions Club, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3168 Laquey and had served on the Dixon Cemetery Board as treasurer for many years. Jerry loved to golf and could often be found at the Dixon Oaks Country Club or mowing for the Dixon Ambulance District.

            Those left to mourn the passing of Jerry include: his wife, Janet Driscoll, Dixon; his daughter and son-in-law, Kay and George Young, Dixon; two grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Ben Hoffman and Kyle Glass and his wife, Devyn; two step-grandchildren, George Young and Mitchell Young; one great-grandson, Henry Glass; three step great-grandchildren, Graci Young, MyraTrevino and Charlee Young; one brother, Lieutenant Commander (Ret) Michael Driscoll, Gulf Breeze, Florida; and many other relatives and friends.

            Visitation from 4 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon

            Visitation from 10 -  11 a.m., with the funeral at 11 a.m., in the Faith Lutheran Church, 981 Highway Z St. Robert, MO 

            Interment with full military honors will be held in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
