MARY HAYES OF ELWOOD,
DIES OF WRECK INJURIES
Elwood, Nov. 23, --- Mrs. Mary C. Hayes, age 75, of 817 North Sixteenth Street, died at Mercy Hospital at 9:30 a. m. today from injuries received in an automobile wreck south of Elwood Thursday afternoon. The body was removed to the R. L. Jackley funeral home, but funeral arrangements have not been made. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Abbie Adams of Frankton; Mrs. Blanche Scroggins of Spiceland; and Mrs. Ruth Hartley, of Elwood; a son, Russell, of Frankton, and a sister, Mrs. Maude Eastman, of Frankton; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hayes was born at Columbus, Dec. 5, 1870, the daughter of Wesley and Rebekah Comer, and married Cort Hayes in 1892. Mr. Hayes died a few years ago. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Zion Chapel Church. The accident in which Mrs. Hayes was injured took place Thursday afternoon when autos driven by Ernest Conklin and George Qverman collided 3 miles south of this city. Mrs. Hayes was in the Conklin car and when first brought to the hospital was not believed to have been hurt seriously, but X-ray examination showed serious internal injuries.
