One of the greatest Canadian engineering marvels of the 20th century was the building of the Welland Canal. Over the course of the 21 years of the canal's construction, 137 workers lost their lives. Sadly, 33 year old Amos was one of them.
To honour the 137 men who died, The Welland Canal Fallen Workers Memorial was unveiled in St. Catharines November 12, 2017. This memorial will serve as a testament to the bravery of these men and ensure that they will never be forgotten. The memorial is located at Lock 3, St. Catharines.
