Lulu Mae was given to us by a friend. She was the light of our lives. A sweetheart that kissed my tears when I cried. She had many health problems throughout her life, which many English Bulldogs do. She loved to play with toys and snuggle with her adopted sister Bella Roan, the Stumpy tail Australian Cattle Dog, that was rescued when Running Bear, my horse, died. Lulu rode in my car and kissed my tears the whole way home when I said goodbye to Bear for the last time. She loved to chase Bella and she loved treats! She loved to swim at the River House in the Blanco river with her life jacket on! She was a swimming pig! She was a great car rider too and loved sunbathing in the grass. She could sit, lay, high-five, shake hands, and speak on command. She was an excellent alarm system when someone knocked on the front door!
The day Lulu died she was playing with her toys, running in the backyard, and sunbathing too. That night we told her to go upstairs for bed, her daddy gave her snuggles with kisses, and I came upstairs to give her kisses and hugs too and she licked my face. I told her to go lay on her bed, and she did falling asleep quickly. I read my book in bed for about 10 minutes, and then I heard Lulu catch her breath in her sleep. She let out her breath and I waited for her to breathe again, like she always did, but that breath never came. Lulu died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 10 years & 4 months, 9 days before my birthday. I laid down that night with my warm pup licking my face, and woke up with a cold blank urn to catch my tears in the morning. To say we are heartbroken is to put it lightly. We miss her so much. We adopted a shelter pup in her memory and he is so grateful to be fed and loved, I know Lulu is happy to see us find some joy.
Peaceful rest on the Rainbow Bridge in Heaven Lulu, in Jesus’s care till one sweet day.
