Barbara M. Hadra

Hadra, Barbara M. , 87, of Sun Lakes, Arizona passed away peacefully on September 5, 2015. Barbara was born in 1928 in Teaneck, New Jersey. She was raised in Connecticut, attended William & Mary College in Virginia, and received a Master's Degree from NYU at a time when it was very rare for women to obtain advanced degrees. Barbara and husband Carl moved to Phoenix in 1960, where Carl founded a successful engineering firm. Barbara and her family lived in both Tehran, Iran and Palma de Mallorca, Spain in the mid 1970s, and she and Carl also lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco and then Littleton, Colorado before retiring permanently to Sun Lakes in the early 1990s. Barbara had a razor sharp mind, and loved playing competitive bridge. She enjoyed volunteer work, and was active in the Assistance League of the East Valley. Barbara was pre-deceased by husband Carl M. Hadra and grandson Andy, and is survived by sons Carl Jr. and Andrew, sister Helene Pande and husband Henry (Denver, Colorado), step daughter Leslie Carson and her son Michael, Phil Carson, Isabelle Alessandra who was like a daughter to her, granddaughters Erin and Kimberly Hadra, along with beloved nieces and nephews and her many loving friends. Memorial plans are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Assistance League of the East Valley or to Hospice of the Valley.
