James (aka Jim) Wesley DARDEN was born in Ellis County, Texas (TX) on October 24th, 1899 to Wesley P. (1872-?) and Sallie A. (1874-?) DARDEN. Jim was one of seven children of this marriage. His siblings were Myrtle B., Jim, Liddie Ella, Walter Guin, Lethia Olga, Kenneth and Fay D.

This family can be found in the Federal Censuses (FC) residing in the following locations: 1900 – Ellis County, TX, 1910 Taylor County, TX, 1920 – Cleburne, Johnson, TX, 1930 – some residing in Cleburne, Johnson, TX and Jim in San Pedro (Los Angeles), CA.

Jim married Mary Fae (nee SNYDER) SHAW about 1927 in California and sometime before 1930 adopted her son by her previous marriage, one James Lester SHAW, aka Jimmy. James Lester then took the name James Lester DARDEN (1924-1971).

Jim was an automobile salesman for many decades. He resided in San Pedro and then in Perris (Riverside) until sometime after 1968 when he moved to Texas following the death of his first wife Mary. While in Texas Jim was known to have remarried at least once. One of the marriages was to Lucille W. GARRETT. They married on July 27th, 1975 in (McLennan), Texas (TX). Lucille was age 69 and Jim was age 76 at the time of that marriage.

James Wesley DARDEN died on 02-28-1991 in McLennan County, Texas (TX) and is interred next to his first wife Mary at Rose Hills.
