Matthias Parr, my 2nd great grandfather, was born 13 January 1796 on his father's farm near the New River, in present day Watauga (Wilkes County at the time) North Carolina. He died 11 December 1862 near Hunt City, Jasper County, Illinois. He was the 6th child of John & Mary Parr, and undoubtedly named for his grandfather, Matthias Parr (1725-1760). Matthias married Sarah Crowder Kimbrell 20 February 1819 in Kingston, Roane County, Tennessee, his brother David was the best man. Matthias and Sarah were parents to five children, Nancy Kimbrell Parr (1819-1903), Rebecca Hale Parr 1822-1849), Moses Howard Parr 1823-1902), Peterson Kimbrell Parr (1825-1899) (my great grandfather) and Isaac Barton Parr (1830-1898). The first four children were born in Tennessee and Isaac Barton was born in Jackson, Shelby County, Indiana. By 1840 and through 1850 the family is in Clark, Johnson County, Indiana. There is no record of Matthias or Sarah in the 1860 census or Sarah in the 1870 census after Matthias died in 1862. They are both interred in Brockville Cemetery in Jasper County, Illinois along with their son Isaac Barton Parr and many other family members. We can conclude that Sarah and Matthias must have moved to Jasper County, Illinois along with their son and related family members between 1850 and 1860. Parr, Kimbrell, Jones, Manning and others are all related.
