Roland C. Abel, age 88, of Peshtigo, died Monday March 1, 2021, at Rennes-West in Peshtigo, WI.
He was born October 27, 1932 to Alfred and Linda (Buss) Abel in the town of Grover, WI.
He married the former Nancy Brabender on July 7, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Peshtigo.
Roland was employed as a young man at the Thompson Boat Company and Unit Structures Inc. before becoming employed by Badger Paper Mills from where he retired as Assistant Superintendent at the Pulp Mill.
A United States Army veteran, that served with the 42nd Engineers in Alaska.
An avid hunter he hunted in the later years with his son Bret and Grandchildren.
He enjoyed wood working and carpentry and especially building unique bird houses.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy;
his son Bret (Nora) Abel;
daughter Amy (Vince) O'Brian;
grandchildren: Molly (Scott) Krejcarek, Libby Abel, Jacob Rose and Lucille Rose.
Papa was also loved by great grandchildren: Jax and Laney.
He is further survived by one sister Yvonne (Frank) Hubel;
stepbrother Robert (Barbara) Schoenfeld;
two stepsisters: Betty LeBreck, Bay City, MI and Susan Springstead, Madison;
Roland was preceded in death by a sister, Babette and a stepsister Karen Greatens.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9th at Zion Lutheran Church, Peshtigo, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am with Pastor Luke Myslik officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
