Bobby G. "Bob" Abner, 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on October 19, 1938 in Urban, Kentucky, the son of the late Ernest C. Abner and Marie (Hayre) Abner. Bob graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1957 and on Dec. 9, 1962 he married Lana June (Wineinger) Abner. He was a retired employee of Cummins Engine Company, where he worked for 41 years. Bob was a member and very active at the New Providence Baptist Church near Scottsburg, Indiana, where he served on several committees, including as a Cemetery Trustee. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard, was a member of the IOOF Lodge and the Scottsburg FFA. Bob enjoyed woodworking, yard work and traveling with his family. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lana June Abner; a daughter, Leigh Ann Jackson and her husband Russell of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; four sisters, Christine Holt of Fayetteville, Georgia, Dorothy Ann Surber (Charles) of Columbus, Indiana, Janice Disbro and Judith LeBouef (Charles) all of Jeffersonville, Indiana and
numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation services were
entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Graveside Service was held on Saturday, March 13, 2021
at Uniontown Cemetery near Uniontown, Indiana.
