Obituary for Drew Mowdy
Drew Duane Mowdy age 85, of Talihina, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on March 6th, 2021 in Poteau, Oklahoma. Drew was born on August 30th, 1935 in Octavia, Oklahoma to Hildred (Akins) and King Martin Mowdy. Drew was a welder, rancher, and heavy equipment operator. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Drew enjoyed country music and dancing, hunting, fishing, high school basketball (all of Leflore County). In 1992 he was invited to the Oklahoma Democratic Delegation in Washington, D.C. to cook his famous BBQ. When he was asked if he met the president, he replied "no, I didn't meet her, she was not available", Mrs. Clinton. Drew was one of a kind, he never met a stranger, he will be missed by all who knew him.

Drew is survived by his son, Marlon Mowdy and wife Jackie; son, Brian Mowdy of Talihina, OK; granddaughter, Rheanna Mowdy of Pocola; two great grandchildren, Angeline Forrester and Jaxon Forrester of Pocola, OK; sisters, Connie Williams and husband Leroy, and Lorene Williams, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Drew is preceded in passing by his parents, King and Hildred Mowdy; brother, RB Mowdy; sister, Pat Mowdy; and son Gary Mowdy.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 12th, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Brian Mowdy, Doug Mowdy, Kenneth Smith, Rodney Wright, Jimmy Jacobs, and Leroy WIlliams.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, March 13th, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Ludlow Cemetery in Honobia, Oklahoma with Bro. Keith Williams officiating. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina, Oklahoma.
