Sherrie Lee Bean Thomas passed away on March 8, 2021 at the age of seventy-seven after a long battle with Inclusion Body Myositis.

She was born to Glenn and Wilma Bean on March 22, 1943 in Santa Monica, California. Her family later moved to Rexburg, Idaho, where she spent the rest of her youth. She was highly involved in various clubs at Madison High School and was liked by all.

Sherrie was a friendly, generous, energetic, and compassionate person who made everyone feel like the most important person in the room. These qualities were a perfect match as she received her degree as a Registered Nurse at Ricks College, where she was President of the Idaho State Student Nurses Association as well as Miss Ricks College in 1963.

When the love of her life, Scott Thomas, returned from his LDS mission, she effectively persuaded him to marry her. They were married on Friday the 13th of November 1964 in the Idaho Falls Temple. After Scott finished his degree at USU, they moved to Salt Lake City. Here, she continued her beloved career as a Registered Nurse and worked at several locations, including LDS Hospital, Alta View Hospital, and WorkMed. She was also known as the neighborhood nurse, eager to help anyone in need. Being a nurse was an important part of her identity because she cared so deeply for people.

Sherrie served in many leadership callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but her favorite was Primary Chorister. She was a devoted mother not only to her own kids but to anyone needing a hug or a listening ear. Her family would often tease her about her growing Christmas card list after she met several new friends at the grocery store or even a misdialed number.

The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren. Even in her last days, nothing made her happier than having them around. Some of her last words were about how much she would miss them. She loved them fiercely.

Sherrie is survived by her husband, Scott Thomas; son, Bret (Heidi); son, Jeff (Rosemary); daughter, Heidi (Creed) Miller; daughter, Heather (Matt) Robertson; brother, Bill (Nancy) Bean; seventeen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in the Silver Mesa Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8945 South 1700 East, Sandy, and preceded by a viewing for close family and friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
