Sarah E. "Bessie" Crabtree, 88, died Sunday, February 16, 1997 at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. Born December 1, 1908 in Casey County, she was the daughter of Amos Perry and Mary Elizabeth Jane Cochran Allen. She was the widow of W. L. Crabtree, Sr. She was a homemaker, member of Bohon Christian Church, Mercer Senior citizens, Widow to Widow Group, and June Tracy Circle. Survivors include: one son, W. L. (Bill) Crabtree Jr., Perryville; one daughter, Sarah Josephine Janick, Harrodsburg; two brothers, William Allen and Benjamin Enoch Allen, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Frances Carrier, Cincinnati, OH, Flossie Royalty, Harrodsburg, Gracie Cobb, Lexington; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Allen. Services for Mrs. Crabtree were held Tuesday, February 18, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
