F.X. Courtway was born in Canada, West Essex County, township of Gosfield in 1883. He was married at age twenty-one to Miss Judith Gilboe in Canada. They had six children, Anthony, Frances, Albert, Mrs. William McKillip, Mrs. Molder and Mrs. Henry Williams.
In the year of 1865 he went to california and in 1867 moved to Michigan, where his wife died in 1873.
In 1877 he married Louise Bourgelos of Canada. They moved to Goldendale in 1879. They had ten children Augustine, John, Eugene, Fred, Dick, Dora, Alma, Irene and Thomas. He went into the sheep business in 1895 with his son Albert and moved to Wenatchee valley where he lived at the time of his death.
