William Aaron Goldston was born in Lebanon, Tennessee.
His middle name coming from his uncle Aaron Ruyle, which was his wife's grandfather.

August 21, 1850 he wed his second cousin, Angeline Narcis Williams. The had 13 children.
A daughter born in 1851 and dying before they moved to Texas in 1858.
