Texas Ranger Captain Rogers worked many famous cases, including the gambling raids made in Galveston, Texas, of the Balinese Room which opened in 1942 and was raided and closed by the Texas Rangers in 1957.

Captain Rogers commanded the Texas Rangers and other law enforcement support during the 11-day hostage siege and escape attempt at the Walls Unit of the Texas Department of Corrections in Huntsville, Texas, on August 4, 1974.

During WWII, he was a fighter pilot in Europe, winning 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 12 air medals. He pioneered the use of aircraft as a tool of the Texas Dept. of Public Safety. He was a skilled horseman, adept with a lariat and also a pilot with jet rating.

Pete Rogers had one brother, Jack Mabry Rogers. Jack was a member of the Army Air Corp. during WWII and was killed in a commercial airline crash in 1953.

On July 10, 1943, in Tulare, California, "Pete" Rogers and Gladys Nell Jordan were married by Rev. R. W. Estes. They had 4 children together: Karen Rogers Powell (Jimmy Foy Powell), Baby boy Rogers (stillborn), Dorlisa/Lisa Rogers Simpson (Christopher Martin Simpson) and Beverly Rogers Singleton (Tony Russell Singleton). There are six grandchildren: Children of Karen and Jimmy Powell: Cynthia Denise Powell Bird and Scott Rogers Powell; Children of Lisa and Chris Simpson: Christopher Matthew Simpson and Jeffrey Martin Simpson; Children of Tony and Beverly Singleton: James Wesley Singleton and Heather Nicole Singleton. There are seven great-grandchildren. Children of Cyndi and Tim Bird are: Ashley Bird Bellah, Emily Bird Noble, Nathan, Toby and Molly Bird. Son of Scott and Christie Powell is Jackson Kyle Powell. Son of Matthew and Sarah Simpson is Neil Allen Simpson. There are also two great-great grandchildren: Karen, daughter of Emily Bird Noble, et vir and Leo, son of Ashley Bird Bellah et vir.
