Born 3 March 1877 in Tennessee per her death certificate and the 1900 census, to Henry Thomas "Harry" Lee and Mary Jane Young. Edna (as she is identified in most records) was married four times. Several other census records, including the 1880 census where she was living with her parents in Tennesse, indicate that she was born in Arkansas. Thus Arkansas seems the more likely birth location.

She first married Abner A. Gleason on 24 Apr 1892 in Upshur County, Texas. They had Georgia Ann Gleason, b. 5 May 1893 in Wood County, Teas.

Next, she married B. F. Payne in Hopkins County, Teas, in 1896. They had Ethel Maybel Payne, b. 3 Dec 1896 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas.

Next, she married Thomas Grant "Tom" Smith on 28 Feb 1900 in Wood County, Texas. They had:
