Preceded in death by his parents and his siblings James Coppernoll, Betty Jean Albrecht, Gilbert Coppernoll and Esther DeVoe and survived by brother Norman Coppernoll. Dean will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Sue; children Doug (Nancy), Lee, Jeff (Susan), Connie (Jimmy) and Kelly; grandchildren James Jackson, Carly, Carrie, Stevie, Josh and Zoe; and great grandchildren Nolan, Mia, Wren and Phéta.
Raised on the family dairy farm, Dean attended Morseville school through 8th grade, graduated from Stockton High School, attended Bradley University and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951 with a B.S. in Animal Sciences. He served in the United States Air Force, 1951-1953, serving in both Japan and Korea. Dean worked in agribusiness for most of his sales career with Kent Feeds and Watt Publishing.
Dean was a lifelong devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, alongside the Fighting Illini, and enjoyed many rounds of golf. He was an active member of the Rockford Area Illini Club and upon moving to Fayetteville, helped organize meetings of Illinois alumni. He and Sue traveled across the country and globe. He also devoted many hours of service to the communities he lived in, including tutoring students in reading. Dean’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.
