Thomas E. Deem

Thomas E. Deem, 87, of Parkersburg died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 23, 1918, at Slate Creek, Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Francis Josire Deem and Nancy Estella (Weekley) Deem.

Mr. Deem had retired from Kaiser Aluminum of Ravenswood with 23 years of service. He had also previously been employed with the KieKeffer Box Factory, was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was very active and had served in various positions and committees, including the finance board, trustee and usher. He is a member of the United Methodist Men and the Trinity Seniors.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Belle (Griffin) Deem; one daughter, Marsha Doreen Deem and husband, Mike, of Washington, W.Va.; two sons, Dale Thomas Deem and wife, Christy, of New Martinsville and Stephen Wayne Deem and wife, Diane, of Parkersburg; one sister, Nancy Watson of Reedsville, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Dowler.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor James Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 15. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg.

The family has requested that all memorial donations be made in memory of Mr. Deem to the American Cancer Society.
