Betty Elaine Allen, 72, of Leesburg, Florida passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at Mike Connelly Hospice House in Clermont, Florida. Born, July 1, 1948 in Monroe County, she was the oldest daughter of William and Esther (Smith) Jacobs, and the step-daughter of Betty Elkins Jacobs.
Betty was a proud graduate of Smithville High School class of 1966 (Go Skibos), she attended Indiana University where she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was also a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #553 in Stanford, IN.
She was a very loving and caring person who loved God, her family and friends dearly. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Betty held numerous positions throughout her life, but the one she was most proud of and was forced to retire from in 2008 because of health issues was Director of Collections for C.F.E. Credit Union in central Florida.
Survivors include her loving step-mother, husband of almost 55 years, John W. Allen Jr., two sons who she loved dearly, Ronald D. Allen and Travis R. Allen of Davenport, FL; siblings, Ron Jacobs (Sharon), Jackie Axsom (Lee), Steve Elkins (Marti), Debbie Frolich (Nick), and Brian Elkins (Sharon), uncle, Roger Jacobs and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jill Ann Anderson, and brother, Johnny Jacobs.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Monday, March 22, 2021 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN 47401. A graveside service will be 1:30pm Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Clear Creek Cemetery with Pastors Stephen Johnson and Perry Anderson officiating.
