In 1943, Mrs. Hartman, who for several years has been a successful "city farmer" on the former Bodine holdings along the National highway in the vicinity of Vandalia, had a public sale of the things she had gathered about her and sold her farm to Mr. Mays of the Inland Dayton. He will take over the 90 -acre tract with strictly modern farm residence, good farm buildings, and one of the beat tenant houses and accompanying buildings in the valley. The Dayton Daily News noted, "There were good crops on the farm the day of the sale, everything about the place was spick-and-span, and in the goods up for sale from the odds and ends of house and barn, down to the Guernsey cows, last to be offered, were ample evidence that a woman "city farmer" can make good at the business of farming."
Marriage date of 1920 is estimated. Her husband remarried in 1943 and he was listed as 'divorced'.
