He was baptized at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, Iowa, and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 12 in Mason City, attaining the rank of Life Scout. He attended school at St. Joseph School and graduated from Newman High School in 1998. He continued his education and graduated with an AA degree from North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City. Nathan married Heather Loops on Dec. 7, 2008, at the Walnut Woods State Park, Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoyed golfing, music and people. His kindness, generosity, gentle spirit and sense of humor were enduring qualities which enabled him to love many and be loved by many more. These qualities also served him well during his illness. His constant optimism and the attitude that someone else was worse off than he gave him and everyone hope and strength.
