MOS: 11D1P Armor Reconnaissance Specialist (Airborne Qual.).

When Eugene arrived in Vietnam 12 March 1970, he was assigned to E Troop, 17th Calvary, 17th Airborne Brigade, USARV. While on a patrol in the vicinity of Highway 506 Valley and 6 kilometers north northwest of Phu My City, the lead APC in the column detonated a landmine and caught fire. Hostile forces sprung an ambush against the soldiers. Eugene died as a result of burns while inside of the burning APC. He was listed as killed in action 7 September and was later recovered and identified 21 September 1970.
Survived by his parents, Leroy K and Jessie E Dowdy Aaron and a brother; Ernest Earl Aaron of 6009 Clifton Street, Tampa, FL.
