His obituary stated he received an honorable discharge on 27 January 1919, two and a half months after the war's conclusion.
Ralph married Emma Catherine Reed on 26 February 1931 in Monmouth. He died suddenly of a heart attack at 2:30 am at home, Sunday 20 March 1949. He was survived by his wife, 3 brothers, and a sister, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He had been associated in the carpentry business with his cousin, Fred Clyde "Ted" Hoy.

Gravesite Details
Military headstone application, signed by his widow, stated Ralph was to receive a flat granite marker. It appears however he received a flat marble marker instead.
