Obituary
Mary “Molly” (Higgins) Dormer

Molly Dormer, 95, of Coal Township passed away peacefully Sunday, December 20 at home surrounded by family.

Molly was born February 2, 1925, a daughter of the late William and Florence Higgins. On December 29, 1945 she married the love of her life, the late Michael J. Dormer. Molly was a graduate of St. Edward’s High School in Shamokin. Upon graduation from high school she worked at the Shamokin News Item until she married. After raising her five daughters, she graduated from cosmetology school and opened her own successful beauty salon, which she operated for over 50 years. Molly was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Coal Township.

Molly was an amazing person in so many ways, loving, caring for others, passionate, talented and stylish. She loved spending time with family and friends. Sundays were often spent together with Michael on country drives or picnics with family and good friends. Even when she was working, her beauty salon was a venue for warmth and friendship. Molly will also be remembered for her exceptional artistic abilities in painting with oils and watercolors, sewing, fashion and design. Many walls in her family’s homes are beautified by her paintings, several of which won local art competitions. When Molly had a rare break from her active lifestyle, she was an avid reader, enjoying mystery novels in particular.

Molly is survived by her daughters Maureen Zarick and husband Stephen (and children Megan deManicor, Katie Schroyer, and Stephen Ryan Zarick), Elizabeth Singzon and her husband Jaime (and children James Singzon and Teresa Singzon), Marianne Williams, Sheila Sutton and her husband Greg (and children Michael Carter, Molly Carter, Patrick Carter and Maureen Carter), her grandchildren Paige Rosini and Matthew Rosini, and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition, Molly is survived by two sisters Rose Maurer of Shamokin and Claire Beckwith of Florida.

In addition to her parents and husband, Molly was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Rosini and husband Hon. James Rosini, her three sisters Marion Nasatka and husband Carl, Julia Williams and husband Raymond, and Jane Anne D’Amico and husband Joseph, her brother John Higgins, her son-in-law David Williams and her granddaughter Marianne Rosini Taylor.
