Andrew J. Sturts was born at Muskingdon County, Ohio, July 31, 1825. Moved to the state of Indiana in early life and from there to the state of Illinois in 1863, and remained in this state until death, which came to him on August 24, 1909, aged 84 years, 1 month and 21 days. He was married to Mary McClure Reeser, Nov. 8, 1845, and to this union was born seven children, four boys and three girls. Of this family, his wife and three children have preceded him into the great beyond. He served in the war in Hancock's company. He was a man that never complained and a great lover of children. He was a member of the M. E. Church, uniting with it in the state of Indiana and held membership at the old log schoolhouse known as the Wade Schoolhouse. He was a man with quite and temperate habits. Peace be to thee.
