Fairhope - Thomas Stallworth Turk, age 91, a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the William F. Green State Veteran's Home in Bay Minette, AL.

Tom was born November 15, 1926 in Montgomery, AL. He served in the Navy in WWII aboard the USS Yorktown CV-10 and the USS Nashville Cruiser. He visited the WWII Memorial in Washington DC on a South Alabama Honor Flight.

With a quiet heart of servitude, a strong-willed independence, and a God-given talent for carpentry, construction and mechanical devices, Tom left a legacy of accomplishments. During his lifetime, he built five houses and remodeled several others. In Fairhope, he volunteered with Ecumenical Ministries and Thomas Hospital and continually found ways to help neighbors, friends and family. Rarely accepting assistance from others, all the way to the end of his life, he even asked his caregivers "how can I help you"?

Tom is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret B. Turk; two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Compton (Barry) of Fairhope; granddaughter, Caryl Lawson (Charles) of Prattville, AL; great-grandchildren, Cameron Curtis, Brooklyn Lawson and Skylar Lawson; sister, Nancy Turk Sansom of Franklin, TN; other loving relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL.
