HARRIET JANE BEACH - Harriet Jane Watkins, daughter of Walter and Anna Watkins, was born July 3, 1862, in Saratoga county, New York, and departed this life February 19, 1934, at the age of 71 years, seven months and sixteen days. At the age of eight years she moved with her parents to Nevada, Iowa, and after a few months residence there the family moved to the Beach farm east of Maxwell. With the exception of two years' residence near Zearing, her entire life was spent in and near Maxwell. On April 22, 1889, she was united in marriage to Albert A. Beach, of Maxwell. Mr. Beach having preceded her to the eternal home on December 22, 1911. To this union were born two daughters, Mabel Ann Davis, who preceded her mother in death some five months, and Eva Fern Randol, who mourns the mother's passing, with one sister, Mrs. Maryetta Pritchard, three grandchildren and two sons-in-law, LeRoy Davis and Vernon Randol, all of Maxwell; also other relatives and a host of lifelong friends. During her young womanhood she became a member of the Church of Christ of Collins and through the years she has been an ardent follower of her Master. Mrs. Beach had been a regular attendant at the Sunday school and a devoted worker in the church as long as her strength permitted. She was a sunny-spirited Christian mother, always content, whatever her lot. She fell asleep in Jesus very quietly, although rather unexpectedly. Because of her quiet strength and sympathetic heart she will be greatly missed by her loved ones and wide circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the Maxwell Church of Christ last Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the pastor, Rev. N. W. Underwood, and interment was in the Iowa Center cemetery by the side of her husband. There comes the thought of glory To which our friends are gone, The far surpassing glory Beyond what earth has known. Estate of light and gladness, where tears are wiped away, the joy in blessed fulness** of everlasting day.
