Roger William Bakel, 94, of Toluca passed away peacefully at Lacon Rehab and Nursing on Thursday, March 26, 2021, with family members by his side.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Cemetery in Toluca. Franciscan Friars will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca is in charge of arrangements.
Roger was born on January 22, 1927, to William and Refelia (Grill) Bakel of La Rose, IL. After graduating from La Rose High School, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 30 years. He married Leah Jean Biagini on June 21, 1952, in Toluca, IL. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2019.
He leaves behind four children, Paula (Richard) Sampson of Colorado Springs, CO, Debora Bakel, of Peoria, Monica Bakel, of La Salle and Paul (Rhonda) Bakel, of Austin, TX. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one brother, John Bakel of Yorkville.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.
