Mary Jane (Haines) Schaeffer, 89, Shoemakersville passed away March 23rd at the Reading Hospital after a long series of illnesses.

Born September 17, 1931 to the late Kenneth and Anna(Price) Haines in Frackville, PA. She graduated Frackville High School with the class of 1949. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Schaeffer, on February 28, 1953. After Tom's military service, they relocated to Laureldale, finally settling in Shoemakersville where they owned and operated Tom Schaeffer's RV Super Store unti his recent death January 1st 2021. They would have celebrated their 68 wonderful years together.

Jane was also predeceased by her beloved daughter Susan and infant son Louis, grandson Seth Schaeffer, sister Alma (Haines) Straub, and brother Kenneth Haines, Jr. She is survived by her brother William Haines of Reading; sonsThomas R. Schaeffer and wife Amanda, Shoemakersville,Scott C Schaeffer and companion Tara, Reading.; daughter Mary E. Reinhart and husband Kevin, Shoemakersville.Also survived by son-in-law Bruce Bashore, and 10 adoring grandchildren:Aaron & Bradley Bashore, Sarah Schaeffer, Nathan, Rebecca, Matthew, Michael, & Alli Reinhart, Emily & John Schaeffer, and two great grandchildren Zaidyn Werley & Romy Schaeffer and loving nieces & nephews.

Jane was a stay-at-home mom. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, family reunions and the many birthday and anniversary celebrations held over the years.

She never spoke a mean word about anyone but saw the best in everyone she knew.

Jane had an unbelievable memory. She loved bingo and trips to casinos and was envied by her good luck! She loved all animals and during her recent years of being homebound was entertained by the amusing antics of her special friends Willy & Walter the squirrels, and Henry the mouse who came to her windowsill daily for treats. Also her lap cats Baby & Cupid.

We cannot omit mentioning Janes special caregiver for over 7 years, Jane Kline, who made her life so much easier for her. Jane was a dedicated, loving and gentle woman who became more a close family member and will never be forgotten. Also, a special thank you to Home Instead caregivers that provided exceptional care and friendship to family.

Following social distancing requirements, family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, April 5th from 10:00- 11:00 am in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Words of Remembrance will be at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
