J.L. passed away Aug. 26, 2008, in Farwell. He was born June 14, 1919, in Breckenridge, to J.C. and Sarah Jane Bass. He attended and graduated from Union High School and attended Howard Payne University. He was a WWII US Army Veteran. He pastored churches in West Texas, including Calvary Baptist in Brownfield and one in Arkansas. He was a member of Farwell First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Curtis Bass; and two sisters, Ozella Hill and Leta Mae Bryant.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother.
The family suggests memorials to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund in Brownfield or the J. L. Bass Ministerial Scholarship Fund at the First Baptist Church in Farwell.
