Pamela "Pam" J. Horsch (Fogle), 66, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021, with family by her side. Cremation is planned with private family services to be held at a later date. Pam was born August 27, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Carol Fogle (Sjogren) and Dan Fogle. She moved to Ottawa at a young age and remained a lifelong resident until her passing. She attended Ottawa Senior High School, where she was active in school theatre and graduated with the class of 1972. Pam married Tony Keim in 1972 and later divorced.
Pam began working for the Ottawa school district and was a friendly face in the OHS front office for over 25 years. It was in this position where she met her husband, James D. "JD" Horsch, marrying in August 1982. Pam eventually moved to the USD 290 board office to work until her retirement.
Pam is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Carol Fogle. She is survived by husband, JD Horsch, of the home; two daughters, Courtney McCoy (Keim) and husband John of Olathe, KS; Ryan Horsch and partner Corey Giger of Emporia, KS; six grandchildren, Alex, Liora, Evan, Audrey, and Luke McCoy and Davis Giger; brother, Brent Fogle and wife Georgia of Olathe, KS; sister, Danni Fogle and husband Art Clack of Mitchell, NE; her pets, dog Koki and cat Layla; and many beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
One of Pam's earliest passions in life was music, showing a natural talent and love for both singing and piano. She began taking piano lessons at the young age of seven and continued until the age of 17. She perfected the most beautiful and complex sonatas, as well as many recognizable movie theme songs, delighting all who heard her play.
A longtime fan of the Kansas City Chiefs (before they were good), Pam could often be heard cheering loudly for her team, much to the dismay of her pets, who preferred a quiet Sunday. Always rooting for the "underdog," this compassion extended beyond the playing field and was often seen in the kindness she showed to her loved ones. A terrific cook, Pam often showed love with exquisitely prepared meals and care packages for her family and friends. She was also known for surprising those closest to her with little gifts to brighten their days or celebrate a special occasion. It was also not uncommon for Pam to spoil her pets and neighborhood wildlife with chicken or premium cuts of steak. Pam will be remembered for her compassion, her sense of humor, and her generous, giving spirit.
