His funeral will be 2:00 PM Friday afternoon, April 2, 2021, in the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Morris Family Cemetery, directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the CHURCH from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday evening. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund or Mission Fund, 1778 Bethera Rd., Bonneau, SC 29431.
Mr. Morris was born May 5, 1947, in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of John Matthew Morris, Sr., and Edna Mitchum Morris. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church where he participated in mission trips, and he was a graduate of Macedonia High School. After his retirement in 1999, Mr. Morris returned to work for Eastern Design as a data entry technician for a few years. He was also a US Army veteran of Vietnam, and along with his wife, they ran a foster home for fifteen years. In his spare time, Mr. Morris enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, family gatherings and barbequing. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne M. Donovan; a granddaughter, Samantha Lynn Keener; and a brother, Lemuel Morris.
Surviving are, his wife Dell Guerry Morris; two daughters, Karen Morris Mills and her husband, David, of Bethera, and Lynn Varella and her husband, Tony, of N. Charleston; three sons, Brad L. Morris and his wife, Dawn, of Bethera, Shane Morris of Goose Creek, and Dale Morris of Killeen, TX; two sisters, Patricia A. Higgins of Moncks Corner, and Lorita Moore of Bethera; two brothers, Michael R. Morris and John M. Morris, Jr., both of Bethera; nine grandchildren, Crissy Morris, Jessi Davis, Amber Etheredge, Jason Varella, Trace Varella, Claudia Varella, Luke Morris, Austin Keener, and Johnny Donovan; eight great grandchildren, Riley, London, Caroline, Sophie, Megan, Laincy, Cayson, and Owen; and multiple foster children.
