Jimmy Taylor, 83, of Holden, WV, gained admission into the Celestial Lodge above on Sunday, March 28, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 12, 1937, at Rossmore, WV, he was the son of the late Leonard and Norma Isaacs Taylor.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Grimmett Taylor; one son, Timothy Wade Taylor; two brothers, Ray Taylor and Danny Taylor.

Jim loved to work and retired from The Honda Shop and Guyan Machinery before starting on a new adventure with American Hydraulics, AKA his home away from home. He would tell everyone, "If you rest, you rust." An avid NASCAR fan, he loved going to the races with his son and special friend, B.R. Chafin. He also loved working on his antique '36 Chevy and was an exemplary mason.

He was a member and Past Master of Aracoma Lodge #99, The Grand Communicator to Ecuador of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of West Virginia, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of the valleys of Charleston and Logan, a member of Logan Chapter 41 Royal Arch Masons, a member of Logan Chapter 26 Commandery and a member of Beni Kedem Shriners.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Debrina (Rodney) Morton of Holden, WV; his son, James (Connie) Taylor of North Pointe, WV; one grandson, Jordan Taylor Workman of North Myrtle Beach, SC; one granddaughter, Candis (Jamie) Ellis of Chapmanville, WV; one great-granddaughter, Presley Jade Ellis of Chapmanville, WV; one sister, Juanita Orso of Holden, WV; and two special friends, Jim Winkler and Billy Ray Chafin. Additionally, Jim also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Randy Skeens officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV, where Masonic Graveside Rites will be observed. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
