Transcription of Land Deed
Land Deed, Mifflin County, PA, October 7, 1800

Thomas H Stewart of Mifflin County Farmer & Tanner applies for one hundred acres of land in Milford Township Mifflin County joining lands surveyed for Jacob Strouse and George Crain and others including of his improvement consisting of a dwelling house and three acres of land cleared by Joseph Crain.

To the secretary of the land office of Pennsylvania Mifflin County Interest from 1 May 1797 of 50 percent.

We the subscribers John Watson and James Knox two of the Justices of Peace in and for the County aforesaid do certify that it is this day proved to us by Joseph Crain on his solemn oath that the above described tract of land was first improved in the months of May & June in the year 1797 and not before that 2 crops of wheat & rye have been raised upon the said land and that a man wife and family actually reside thereon at this time.
