Larry Wayne Nester, Sr., 71 passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at UAB hospital in Birmingham, AL with his family by his side. Graveside services are 1:30 Friday, April 2 at the Veterans Administration Cemetery in Kilmichael with Rev. T. Hill officiating. Visitation is from 5-7 Thursday evening at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home.



Larry was a lifelong resident of Carroll County. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired as a heavy equipment operator with Nelson Material and was also a disabled American Veteran. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, growing flowers and gardening. He and is wife helped raise seven foster children. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Wayne Nester, Jr. and his parents, Robert and Johnnie Nester.



He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janice Minga Nester; a son, James Scott Nester (Holly); 3 sisters, Linda Harper Jackson (Dale), Patricia Jean Everett (Kenny), Evelyn Ruth Hollis; two brothers, James Hartford Nester (Carolyn) and John Rayburn Nester (Norma) all of Carrollton; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.



Pallbearers are Brad Melton, Leonard (Big Stuff) Anderson, Andy Harper, Jim Nester, Andy Ferguson, Ryan Christopher Stringfellow and John Rayburn, Jr.



Memorials may be made to Riverside Baptist Church.
