Walter Leroy "Roy" HOWARD, 71, of Darrouzett, died Aug. 20, 2002.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 23, at Darrouzett School Auditorium,
with Rev. L. J. Ehrlich and Rev. Ray HENNIGH officiating. Burial was in
Darrouzett Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral
Service of Booker.

He was born Sept. 10, 1930 on the family farm near Logan, Oklahoma. He attended
Victory Country School, and graduated from Darrouzett High School in 1948. He
married Fern HENNIGH on June 5, 1949 in Logan, Oklahoma. They lived on a farm
until moving to Darrouzett in 1950.

He worked for the Darrouzett Co-op as a transport driver for 17 years, and then
worked for Phillips Petroleum as a pumper, retiring in 1992. He was a past
member of the Darrouzett City Council and the Darrouzett Volunteer Fire
Department. He attended Apostolic Faith Church.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Donnie and Derick, his parents, Irvin and
Lila HOWARD and a brother, Melvin HOWARD.

He is survived by his wife, Fern, of the home; three sons, Danny HOWARD of
Miami, Billy HOWARD of Logan, OK and Terry HOWARD of Darrouzett; one daughter,
Royal WARD of Azle; four brothers, Bobby HOWARD of Darrouzett, Bill HOWARD of
Shattuck, Oklahoma, Delvin HOWARD of Haysville, Kansas and Alvin HOWARD of
Chickasha, Oklahoma; one sister, Vesta ROACH of Booker; seven grandchildren; and
four great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Darrouzett Emergency Service, or to one's
favorite charity.
