He was born on April 9, 1929, in Putney to Walter R. and Nancy Savage Amidon.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on Dec. 30, 1947.
He worked at Putney Paper Mill, Case Brothers and Boise Cascade-Specialty Paperboard, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Marian E. (Wood) Amidon of Putney; two sons, Dennis W. Amidon of Putney and Walter L. Amidon of East Dummerston; a daughter, Elaine L. (Amidon) Charbonneau of Westminster; four grandchildren, Mark W. Amidon, Leon W. Amidon, Jesse W. Amidon and Julie M. Amidon; and many nieces and nephews.
His hobbies included watching the wildlife which visited his yard on a daily basis and taking short rides on his four wheeler. He also enjoyed fishing for trout in local brooks.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. A notice will be posted in the Brattleboro Reformer.
