Richard L. Dixon Obituary
Capt. Richard L. "Richie" Dixon, a retired Riverboat Captain, born on June 8, 1946 entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 71.
He is survived by his dearly loved daughters, Sara Ann and Julie Lyn Dixon. He is also survived by his loving sister, Marie Dixon Prez; niece, RiRi and Mary Catherine Stall.
Richie was preceded in death by his very loving parents, Richard Remy and MiMi Dixon also his sister, Jeanne Elizabeth Dixon.
Capt. Richie was born in New Orleans and lived all his life in ALGIERS. Capt. Dixon was in the Maritime Industry for 42 years, which he begin in 1972 working with Crescent Towing and Salvage, The United States Coast Guard, West Bank Riverboat Services and as Captain onboard the Boomtown Belle II. Capt. Dixon was a member of the Seafarers International Union, Inland District. Richie was a graduate of Martin Behrman High School, he attended L.S.U.N.O., Delgado Community College and the Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship in Kpiney Point, MD.
Richie loved GOD, his family, his "PODNAS", Harleys and those Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers!!
Visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, LA on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 11 AM until 2 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 PM.
