A song bird since birth and lover of classical music, Grace could often be heard welcoming the day singing a favorite hymn. A long- time member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Ft. Worth, Texas Grace served on the church vestry, taught the children's choir, and sang soprano in the church choir for many years alongside her husband Larry. Grace had an extraordinary singing voice that could hit notes so powerful and true that her family reveled in their ability to identify her voice amongst the many. Grace was a lifelong scholar and voracious reader. She loved historical biographies, murder mysteries, and the current favorites of her grandchildren. She would often pass along her recent favorite to family and friends, encouraging others to read with a gentle persistent nudge. If you happened to miss reading her latest find, she could bring the story to life with such detailed clarity you were easily transported into the pages of the story with her. When challenged with something, she would roll up her sleeves no matter how difficult the task at hand and show those around her the meaning of determination. She was a wonderful listener, creative, and incredibly kind-hearted.
Grace had a way of always seeing the best in people and was an inspirational role model to many. She was a proud mother of four daughters, a grandmother of four, a great-grandmother to six, and a kind friend to many. Grace lived a full and rich life filled with love, laughter and devout faith. While we grieve for the physical loss of such a beloved woman, we are comforted in knowing that she was ready for the Lord's call to heaven where she was greeted by many loved family members including her beloved husband Larry, her lovely Boo, and proud mother Jessie. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Grace is survived by daughters Leslie Eiland, Claire Davis, Susan (Van) Stewart, grandchildren Tiffany (Scot) Van Alstyne, Michelle Juarez, Aaron Eiland and partner Annelise Drange, Jackson (Sharon) Davis and 6 great grandchildren.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Larry Forderhase and daughter Gail Petty, and parents John and Jessie Morrow.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
