Obituary

Aagot Geneva (Graff) Hansen, age 99, of Hawley, left the world on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Aagot Graff, was born May 18, 1921, to Albert and Gertrude (Bjorgan) Graff, at Kindred, ND.

She moved to Fargo, after completing the 10th grade and worked for Herbst Department Store and for Van-Roe Manufacturing Co.

She met Charley Hansen, at the Knights of Columbus, in Fargo, where they both loved to dance. She married Charley on November 24, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN., before his departure for military service in Europe. After his discharge from military service, they moved to Hawley, in 1945, and made their home in Hawley Township. They farmed for 31 years and then built a home in Hawley, in 1976, and retired there. Charley passed away, in 1989.

She had a deep and abiding faith in God that sustained her throughout her life. She was baptized June 5, 1921, by Rev. Ballestad, at Gol Lutheran Church and confirmed, September 20, 1936, by Pastor Thompson, also at Gol Lutheran Church near Kindred, ND. After her marriage, she joined Hawley Lutheran Church in 1947, where she was very active. She taught Sunday School, belonged to Circle and Ladies Aid, helped in Alter Guild, made banners and baptismal towels. She helped put the church paper together and worked on many quilts for overseas.

She loved being with friends and belonged to Muskoda Homemakers Club, Hawley Garden Club and Senior Citizens Club and volunteer worker. She did some traveling with the Classic Club tours and spent a month in Germany, in 1995.

She is survived by one son, Keith (Julie) Hansen; and one daughter, LaVonne (James) Specht, both of Hawley. Seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; Andrew (Stephanie) Specht and their children, Samantha, Gabriel and Isaiah; Benjamin Specht and his children, Shelby and Noah; Jennifer (Shaun) Bratsch and their children, Alexander and Colton; Michael (Jolene) Hansen and child, Carter; Rebecca (Westley) Dunham and their children, Wyatt, Avery and Owen.

Of eight siblings, four survive; Evelyn Wirth, Doris Alverson, Corrine Nygaard and Marlene Bergquist, one brother-in-law, Wesley Nelson; one sister-in-law, Irene Graff; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Gordon; and three sisters, Garnet Floberg, Beatrice Mortenson and Irene Nelson.

Memorials are preferred to Red River Hospice or Samaritan's Purse. The family thanks the staff of Hawley Senior Living for their exceptional care of Aagot.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock on Saturday April 10, 2021, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Hawley Lutheran Church. A lunch will be served after the funeral at HLS Parish Center in downtown Hawley.

May the Lord bless the memory of Aagot Hansen.
