Joe Will Cox was the son of Joseph and Rhuehany Cox. He was born April 12, 1869 and passed into rest September 5, 1936. He was united in marriage to Sarah E. Maxwell, January 13, 1887, who preceded him in death June 7, 1936. To this union was born one child, Anna, October 24, 1887, and she departed this life, September 1, 1922. He had five sisters: Mrs. George Alexander of Willow Hill, Mrs. George Payne of Farmersburg, IN; Mrs. Dennis O'Dell of Oblong; Mrs. Charles George of Mattoon; and Mrs. Charlest Hilton of Tilton. Joe Will, as he was called by the community, united with the M.E. church at Evermon Mound, forty-eight years ago and continued an active member of the church until God called him to come to the home eternal. Funeral services were conducted at Mound M.E. church on Sept. 7. Interment was in Mound cemetery. Newton (IL)Press: 9-22-1936
