Funeral services for Dan Whitaker, who died of gunshot wounds Thursday, April 7, 1932, were held at the Old Lockout* Church at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Religious services were conducted by Rev. Simpson, Baptist pastor of Grapeland. Interment followed in the Lockout Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of T. J. Waller Funeral Director.

Pallbearers were Guy Hill, Truman Tyer, Ikey Tyer, Coy Clark, Lester Gentry and Chester Tyer.

Dan Whitaker was 48 years old. He was raised in Houston County and spent his life in the county where he engaged in farming. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

The deceased leaves his father, Ike Whitaker, a wife and three married daughters, two living in Lufkin and one in Athens, several brothers and sisters and other relatives.
