Eldora was one of nine children born to George Mather and Margaret (Maggie) Jane Woten Webster Mather Lamb: Willie D. abt 1857, Eldora 1862, Elizabeth (Lizzie) E. 1865, (Llewellen) Louis C. 1866, Carrie HJ. 1868, Bruce 1869, George L. 1871, Albert 1873 and Thomas Mather 1881.

MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 18, 1894, page 5. "Eldora Mathers was born December 18, 1862, and died Jan. 11, 1894. The circumstances attending her death were indeed sad. She was in Nevada at the time of her demise. She had gone there to receive treatment for a tumorous growth which had made its appearance upon her side. She was placed under the influence of opiates and eight tumors were removed before the surgeon ceased his work. She died within a few hours without regaining consciousness. She could have survived but a few months had she permitted the growth to take its own course. She had many friends in Nevada where she was very favorably known. Brief funeral services were held there before the removal of the body to Maxwell. Sunday the remains were taken to the M. E. church of this place where pastor Curtis spoke words of comfort and hope to the bereaved. The church was crowded to its utmost capacity by those who came to pay the last tribute of respect to the dead. OBITUARY – Eldora Mather was born Dec. 18, 1862, and died Jan. 11, 1894. She was converted ten years ago this winter and united with the M. E. church, and ever after lived in her humble way, a faithful Christian life until the day of her departure. She sang just before the fatal ordeal, "On Chris the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand." With these blessed words upon her lips passed into the beyond, leaving friends on earth to be forever with loved ones in heaven. Hence to die was true, infinite and eternal gain to Dora. She gave up the earthly house for the heavenly mansion."
