William Oscar Chenoweth, retired farmer and four-year resident of Canon City, died Saturday morning from complications of a lingering illness. He was 87. Born Oct. 11, 1873 in Canton, Illinois, Mr. Chenoweth moved to Colorado in the Simla area for many years. He and his wife, Martha, moved to Canon City four years ago. The couple was married in Colorado Springs on June 28, 1916. He is survived by his wife, two sisters, a brother-in-law, R. F. Debord, and a niece, Elvera Lamm, besides other nieces and nephews. Rev. Nick Susuras, Rev. Delbert Hargreaves, officiated at funeral services held at Swan's Drawing Room, with burial in Ramah Cemetery. Pall bearers were Foster Stephens, Garner Arthurs, Clarence Asper, Alvin Asper, G. S. Wofford and M. A. Wofford

Alternate obit -- William Oscar Chenoweth of Canon City, died at his home Saturday, at the age of 87. He was a farmer and rancher in the Ramah area for 65 years and was a member of the Odd Fellows. Mr. Chenoweth was born in Canton, Ill., Nov. 11 1873. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Martha Jane Chenoweth, Canon City and two daughters, Mrs. Emma Walker, Pueblo, and Mrs. Josephine Pollick, Kansas City, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Swan Drawing Room. The Rev. Nick Susuras will officiate. Burial will be in Ramah.
