McAuleyAfter a brief illness, and surrounded by the love of his family, Alf McAuley died at peace in the early hours of November 11, 2011. As a proud naval veteran of World War II, it's somehow fitting that he died on Remembrance Day. We honour and celebrate his 87 years with our memories of a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbour and friend. In his strong, quiet way, he touched the lives of so many, offering us all an example of a life well lived. Loving and devoted husband of 63 years to Dorothy. Cherished father to Kathy (Bernie MacKay), Tom (Esther), Pat (Leslie), Andy (Patsy), Jim (Marjorie), Sharon (Brian Kendall) and Dan (Jill). Beloved grandfather to Ross MacKay, Sarah MacKay, Sam (Andrew Kapsa), Rebecca Hibbert (Ben), Jonathan, Daniel, Jean-Nicholas, Chris (Taryn), David, Maggie, Kathleen, Amy, Matthew, Andy, Abigail and Grace. Great grandfather to Aidan McAuley, Callum McAuley and Josiah MacKay. Much loved uncle of many favourite nieces and nephews. Dear brother to Theresa Lavergne (late Lee) and Frank McAuley (Ann). Alf is predeceased by his parents Tom and Albina McAuley, his brothers Webb (late Nancy) and Tom and his sisters Abbey (late Larry Boucher), Rita (late Russ Robie), Margaret (late Leonard Piccolo), Monica (late Paul Shami) and Mary (Jack Lucas). Family and friends may call at O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home and Cremation Center, corner of Cathcart and St. James Sts. Monday November 14, 2011 from 6 to 9 P.M.. Funeral mass at Holy Family Parish, 208 Prentice, Tuesday November 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Boguslaw Jaroszek officiating. Followed by Interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ARCH or St. Vincent's Place would be appreciated by the family. (Arrangements entrusted to O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home 705-759-8456). Condolences are available online at www.osullivanfuneralhome.com
