Linda Briscoe, age 72, of Huron, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at her home.
F. Linda Betts was born on May 30, 1935 at Huron, South Dakota to Dr. Laurence and Genevieve (Munsell) Betts. Linda grew up in Huron, graduated from Huron High School in 1953 and from Huron College in 1957. She taught music at Granite Falls, Minnesota for one year, and then at Mitchell, South Dakota for one year.
On June 7, 1959, Linda married Darrell Briscoe at Huron. Linda was active in the Huron musical community as a member of the Huron Area Music Teachers Association and the Huron Concert Association. She was also a fifty year member of PEO Chapter A.N. and a member of the United Commercial Travelers. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Linda served as the organist for forty-three years. She was also a member of the church choir, bell choir, taught Sunday school and was an ordained elder.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and one son, David L. Briscoe.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Darrell of Huron; two daughters, Lisa (Dr. Michael) Burton of Hickory, North Carolina and Gina (Scott) Griffith of Huron; seven grandchildren, Nick Sperry, Colin Burton, Alyssa Burton, Alex Griffith, Kirsten Burton, Spencer Burton, and Cortney Griffith; two sisters, Nancy (Neil Beasley) Betts of Newburyport, Massachusetts and Laura Gene (Dr. John) Diebold of Louisville, Kentucky; and nine nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be Monday, October 29, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kevin Channell officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
