Son of George Widmer, Sr.* and Jean Lesser Widmer. He was a retired mechanic and air freight exporter, semi pro bowler, and auxiliary police officer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the American Legion Post 56. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn Ann Scalone Widmer; and sister, Elinor (1925-2010). He is survived by his daughter, Georgiana Powers and her husband, Todd Powers of Jefferson; son, Gregory Rhett Widmer of Woodstock; and grandchildren, Jacob S Powers, Justin D Powers and George R Widmer, III.
