Mr. Dean Harold Guynes, 62, died Saturday, January 10, 2004, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Ridgeland. Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Parkway Memorial Cemetery, Ridgeland.
Mr. Guynes was a native of Hazelhurst. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University. He was a career officer in the U.S. Army and awarded two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and two Silver Stars for his service in Vietnam.
Mr. Guynes had been a resident of Jackson since 1979. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson; and had just retired in December from the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery V.A. Medical Center in Jackson.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Dennis Guynes of Ridgeland and Russell David Guynes of San Antonio; four grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Kountouris of Jackson; and two brothers, Dennis Guynes of Crystal Springs, and Ed Guynes of Folsom, La.
